Treatments at Eldertree Dental Practice
At Eldertree Dental in Canvey Island, we offer a wide range of treatments on NHS and affordable independent fee basis.
When you first come in, we will ask about your medical history, address any concerns that you have and give you a complete explanation of any dental procedures you may need. All treatment plans are tailored precisely to your requirements. You will receive a thorough oral examination and if X-rays are required, we’ll take them using the latest digital system which reduces radiation exposure to patients.
Following your examination, we will give you a full estimate of treatment costs and timescales. Fees for our NHS patients are kept in line with NHS banding. For independent patients, our fees are very competitive and reflect the quality of our work and the materials that we use. General Dentistry for all the Family
We provide conscientious care, set trends, and are at the forefront of family dentistry. Our goal is to ensure that you obtain the highest quality dental treatment available in a relaxed and comfortable environment.
In general dentistry, the focus is on the health and correct functioning of your teeth to prevent future problems such as decay, deterioration of teeth and gums.
Benefits of General Dentistry
- • Regular visits are important because they help to keep your teeth and gums healthy. There are two parts to a regular dental visit – the check-up and the cleaning.
- • During the check-up, your dental professional will check your overall oral health for any trouble areas.
- • During the cleaning, your dental professional will remove any plaque and tartar build up and may polish your teeth.
Those patients that require further treatment are invited to book an appointment so that necessary treatment can be carried out. All options are discussed so that an informed decision about your treatment can be made.
A bridge is a false tooth, which is fused between two crowns to fill in the area left by a missing tooth. The crowns hold the bridge in place and are attached onto your teeth on each side of the false tooth. This is what is known as a fixed bridge. A fixed bridge can be used to replace one or more missing teeth. Fixed bridges cannot be taken out of your mouth.
Benefits of Bridges
- • Better functionality – eating chewing and swallowing is a great deal easier.
- • Improved self esteem – improves your look from having missing teeth.
- • Not removable – you don’t have to worry about taking it out to clean.
- • Long lasting and durable.
Anti-wrinkle injections work as an anti-ageing treatment option by temporarily preventing the nerve from sending its signal to the muscle. The muscle has reduced movement and ability to move the overlying skin, which means that the skin is not getting constantly creased when we smile, frown or laugh.
The main areas that people commonly request treatment for are the forehead, the glabella (lines between the eyebrows) and the crow’s feet wrinkle lines at the sides of the eyes. Anti-wrinkle injections can be used to achieve a very effective, non-surgical brow lift.
Would you like to have your teeth straightened, but don’t fancy the idea of wearing braces for an extended period of time? Invisalign is a system of clear plastic aligners, that work invisibly to gradually move your teeth into the desired position. They’re discreet and convenient, as you can remove them for eating, cleaning and social occasions. Ask us today if Invisalign might be suitable for you.
Anxious or Nervous Regarding Dental Treatment? Consider Sedation
Many people neglect going to the dentist to get their teeth taken care of due to fear and anxiety. Sedation dentistry involves performing dental treatment on a patient in an environment that is stress and anxiety free.
What is Sedation?
Sedation is a method of producing a relaxed experience for the patient by using sedative medications. These medications do not put you to sleep, although you feel very sleepy while under sedation. It is lighter and safer than a general anaesthetic.
Is Sedation Right For You?
Any person who is in need of dental treatment, either for health or cosmetic purposes, but has anxiety and fear about undergoing treatment, or has an extreme fear of needles, is likely to benefit from sedation dentistry. People who have painful, extremely sensitive teeth or problems with local anaesthetic may find it difficult to cooperate with the dentist during dental treatment. These patients can be made to feel more relaxed with sedation. Anyone who has had a frightening or traumatic previous dental experience may be nervous about getting back into the dental chair. Sedation can help to overcome this. In addition, patients with a severe gag reflex or people who suffer from medical conditions that render them unable to control their bodily movements, such as Parkinson’s disease, can benefit from the physical relaxation of sedation.
A sedative drug is administered into the blood stream to make patients feel like they are asleep. However, the patient remains conscious and able to follow requests from the dentist. However, the sense of fear and anxiety will be replaced with a feeling of deep relaxation. Most patients will also find that they do not remember much about the experience and feel like time has passed by in a flash. Generally sedation is a pleasurable experience for patients, like being slightly intoxicated but without the hangover! It is administered either by an experienced and trained dentist or a consultant anaesthetist. It is a very safe procedure. The sedative takes effect very quickly and the dosage can be easily manipulated by the dentist or anaesthetist to achieve the desired level of sedation. As the drug has a short half life, the patients are able to get up and walk out straight after treatment, although a chaperone is still legally required. While you are under sedation, the dentist who had seen you for the consultation and treatment planning will carry out the dental treatment. To minimise the number of sedation appointments, the dentist will endeavour to carry out as much of the treatment possible in one appointment. The nurse and anaesthetist will constantly be monitoring you and the pulse oxymeter readings, ensuring that you are comfortable, safe and feeling fine at all times. Once the treatment is finished under sedation, the patient is left to relax for a while on the sofa before being escorted back home by a friend or relative. Patients are advised not to work, drive or operate machinery for the rest of the day. Sedation is offered at a competitive price at Chigwell and we also offer private sedation if requested. We are proud to say that the patients we have treated under sedation have given us positive feedback on their experience. For those who have a fear of dentists, but want to overcome their dental phobia and achieve good oral health, dental sedation may be for you.
Sedation is available on the NHS, as well as for private patients. If you have been putting off dental treatment due to fear, anxiety or problems with anaesthetic, please give us a call on 0208 504 8636 or email us on email@example.com for more information or to book a consultation.
At Eldertree we are pleased to offer one of dentistry’s most exciting new technologies – AirFlow air polishing. This is a pressurised stream of air, mixed with water and a fine powder, that cleans your teeth and gums better than traditional dental instruments. Air polishing is exceptional at removing surface stains from teeth, often producing dramatic results. It can be used as a stand-alone treatment to lift your smile, and is also ideal as a precursor to teeth whitening. AirFlow also helps reduce teeth’s sensitivity, as the fine powder fills in small gaps in your dentin.
The natural white colour of our teeth can get discoloured for a variety of reasons, with tea and coffee drinking, smoking and certain foods being the most common causes. Not all staining requires tooth-whitening procedures; many superficial stains can be removed by our hygienist with a simple scale and polish. However, if left untreated, some stains can work their way into the structure of the tooth and will require something more than just a professional cleaning. In these cases, a tooth whitening procedure gives great results. At Chigwell Dental, we use a deep bleaching system called Enlighten. It comprises of a two week at-home kit and an in-chair session. Enlighten is the only whitening system to guarantee at least a B1 shade, which is the lightest colour of a natural tooth.
Enlighten – Tooth Whitening
Enlighten is the ultimate tooth whitening system, as it’s the only one on the market to guarantee that it will get your teeth to shade B1 (the lightest natural tooth colour), regardless of the colour your teeth were to start with! Get in touch to learn more about how Enlighten can revolutionise your smile.
Pola Night – Tooth Whitening
For those who’d like to take a more gradual approach to teeth whitening, in the comfort of your own home, we offer PolaNight. We’ll craft bespoke bleaching trays for you to wear at night for approximately two weeks. This gentle approach results in deep whitening and is especially recommended for those who are prone to tooth sensitivity.
Porcelain veneers are ultra-thin shells of ceramic material, which are bonded to the front surfaces of your teeth. The procedure often requires little or no anaesthesia, and is the treatment used in many celebrity smile makeovers. Veneers can be used to mask discolourations, close gaps and cover crooked teeth to give you a brighter, more confident smile. Naturally, we use the finest materials; these are highly resistant to permanent staining from coffee and nicotine, and give a pleasing natural smile.
